Sir Giles Gilbert Scott's masterpiece, the Cathedral Church of Christ is the largest Cathedral in Britain. It follows the tradition of the great medieval cathedrals in grandeur and detail – with hand carving by skilled craftsmen and spectacular stained glass.
The Lady Chapel was the first part of the building to be finished and acted as the Cathedral for 14 years. The principal stained glass by James Powell and Sons depicts the Presentation of Christ in the Temple and was installed in the late 1940’s following bomb damage during WW2.

Due to storm damage the window was near collapse and was removed to our workshop for restoration. The original lead, much of it in unusually wide profiles, was preserved wherever possible and lost or smashed glass was replaced. The panels were gently cleaned, carefully re-shaped and cemented. A policy of limited intervention was followed throughout the restoration of this window.
