Holy Trinity - Rathmell, North Yorkshire
A project to design and manufacture a new window
to commemorate the church's 150th anniversary.
1992
Size: 18" x 120" high. (450mm x 3000mm)
Design: R.W.C.
At the top of the Gothic shaped arch are the hands of God the Father, issuing
from the clouds with three rays of light. Below this the Son of God, represented
by the lamb seated upon the book of Seven Seals, holding the flag of victory. In
the middle, the Dove, depicting the Holy Ghost. These lower symbols are
placed upon a red cross and the wavy blue / green background alludes to the
living water which so often occurs in the Christian teachings, i.e Baptism,
Christ walking upon the water, changing water into wine (the first miracle).
Water is mentioned in the Bible many times from the waters in the Creation to
the living fountains in the book of revelations.
John 3 : 5 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a
man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of
God"
