Title: 'The Life of St Bede'
Date: 2011
Design by: Roy W. Coomber
Size of each window: 420mm wide x 560mm
Description: The design illustrate the four scenes from the life of St Bede.
Panel 1 - Entering the Monastery at the age of seven years, a monk welcomes him. The figure of a woman has been added to suggest someone took the boy to the Monastery, perhaps a relative or medieval charity worker.
Panel 2 - Monastic life. The monk with a book illustrates the acts of teaching and study. The other monks are praying or perhaps taking part in a Mass.
Panel 3 - St Bede, an author, scholar and historian, is shown writing with the instruments of calligraphy, a quill pen and a stylus to hold the page.
Panel 4 - St Bede lays in bed, his death imminent, surrounded by monks who are in the act of praying, reading, with one holding a censer, petitioning to God for St Bede's immortal soul.
