"Pilgrim", each light: 460mm wide x 1220mm
Quatrefoil designs by Deb Lowe, 2010
The quatrefoils in the left and right hand lancets were designed to match the existing 1920's central lancet which was repaired and releaded as part of this project.
The left and right quatrefoils each depict countryside scenes chosen to compliment the landscape behind the pilgrim in the centre light. The scenes aim to symbolise the journey of a Christian and the stages that a pilgrim must travel through in his life.
The springtime scene shows a waterfall flowing into a clear pool fringed with rushes, willow and colourful water plants. A swallow, a hopeful sign of spring and approaching summer, swoops overhead.
The right hand light depicts a scene of harvest time. Fields of ripe wheat can be seen in the background framed by an oak tree. A butterfly, an image often used to symbolise resurrection, flies above.
