Accrington, St Joseph's
Title: 'St Joseph the Worker'
Date: 2002
Design by: Roy W. Coomber
Size: 900mm wide x 3400mm
Description: The window represents St Joseph the Worker along with the church members who helped build the church in 1950. They used stones from an old bank in Haslingden to build the church for the growing congregation.
The main figure is St Joseph holding a Adze, a traditional tool used by carpenters for carving wood. There are several figures working on the church in the background and St Joseph's bag of tools laying on the ground.
At the very top is a star, which suggests the star of Bethlehem, Joseph being the father of Christ at the Nativity.
