Title: Holy Communion
Date: 1993
Design by: Roy W. Coomber
Size: 900mm wide x 1300mm
Description: The celebration of the Sacrament of Eucharist, otherwise known as Holy Communion, which is the central act of Christian worship.
The symbolism in the window shows two hands offering up the chalice and host, the chalice is the cup of wine and the host is the bread, here depicted as a white circle with a red cross. Surrounding the above symbol is a halo, rays of light.
The interpretation is up to the viewer, but it could be thought of as the hands of Christ at the last supper, when Christ said 'Do this in remembrance of Me' or the hands could be those of an ordained Priest who is continuing Christ's message in the communion service. The idea is that the hands are offering the bread and the wine to the faithful.
