Briercliffe, St James Window
Title: ‘St James Window’
Date: 2016
Design by: Deb Lowe
Size: 400mm wide x 1270mm
Description: St James is depicted wearing a pilgrim’s cloak fastened with a scallop shell, a traditional emblem of pilgrimage. He holds a gospel and a walking staff. At his feet are stones and pebbles symbolizing the long journey, alongside sea shells referencing his past as a fisherman and mission as a ‘fisher of men.’ Above him are the words, “St James pray for us,” with a gold, white, and brown cross, shell, and crozier. An inscription at the base commemorates the church’s 175th anniversary.
